This webinar, part of a series of WestEd-sponsored webinars related to the education goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will present new information about a previously overlooked student population group: those who drop out but subsequently reenroll. A better understanding of their challenges, demographics, reenrollment histories, and outcomes can provide educators and policymakers with critical information to shape dropout prevention and intervention practices and policies. Presenters include BethAnn Berliner and Vanessa Barrat, Senior Research Associates at the Regional Educational Laboratory West at WestEd, and Paul Shirk, Assistant Superintendent of Research and Technology, San Bernardino City Unified School District, California.

Reenrollment of High School Dropouts in a Large, Urban School District

This study, prepared by REL West, follows a cohort of first-time 9th graders in one large urban school district from 2001/02 to 2005/06 and documents dropout, reenrollment, and graduation rates.
